Abstract: According to Gartner, by 2016, DevOps will cross the chasm from a niche into a mainstream strategy employed by 25 percent of global 2000 organizations. This is similar to the rapid growth agile experienced in the early 2000s. As a result, Agile and DevOps encounters are becoming more frequent.
DevOps and Agile share many underlying philosophies: collaboration, culture, fast feedback, automation. In fact, many consider DevOps to be the offspring of agile and system administration. Seemingly, these two philosophy should blend harmoniously. However, many ops engineers and agilists have found themselves at odds. Why is that?
This panel moderated by Peter Nealon, explores the similarities and contrasts between the two philosophies; with the goal of breaking down the walls between Agile and DevOps. The panel features Agile coach Nivia Henry; and DevOps experts LJ Laubenheimer, and Casey West, as they share their experiences, perspectives, and discuss challenges of operating in a blended environment. Audience participation is encouraged.
