Limited Capacity filling up

Transforming an organization to become more agile requires leadership, but what kinds of leadership? When? Who needs to do the leading? And how? Chris Sims guides you through the process of mapping the styles of leadership that will be needed at various points in your company’s agile transformation.
In this session you will learn the six leadership styles that Daniel Goleman described in his Harvard Business Review Study: "Leadership That Gets Results” and you learn when each style is effective. We mix in the Satir Change Model, which describes how people and organizations process their way through change.
Participants work in small groups to synthesize these two models, creating a map for applying differing leadership styles at various points along the change curve of an agile transformation. There is no one correct answer. Each group creates a map based on their experience and their organizations. We'll wrap up with a review of the maps created to share insights and create deeper understanding.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the six leadership styles from Daniel Goleman’s Harvard Business Review study.
  • Understand the Satir Change Model and relate it to their own situation
  • Be able to describe which leadership styles they believe will be most important and effective at various points in their agile transformation
